How to disable message reaction notifications

WhatsApp introduced the message reaction feature for iOS, Android and web version earlier this year. The feature is similar to the reaction feature available for Instagram and Facebook, where users can react to messages in personal or group chats with an emoji. Users can react to any message using emojis available on the virtual keyboard.
The WhatsApp message reaction feature is helpful to give a quick reply or reaction to a particular message. When you react to a message with emoji, WhatsApp even sends notification of the reactions to your contact.

But sometimes the message reaction notifications are often misunderstood as a message notification. Or if multiple people in group chat react to your messages, you get a thread of notifications which is sometimes irritating. However, the Meta-owned platform offers a solution to this problem too. WhatsApp allows users to disable message reaction notifications. Let's take a quick look on how to disable the message reaction notification.

How to disable WhatsApp message reaction notifications
Open WhatsApp on your iOS, Android phone or on the desktop.
Tap on the three-dot menu available at the top right and select Settings.
Next, from the options tap and open the Notifications tab.
Scroll and find the Reaction Notification option.
Toggle and turn off 'Show Notification for reaction to messages you send'.
Notably, WhatsApp provides separate options for turning off message reaction notification for individual chats and group chats. So turn off the reaction notification option under both 'Messages' and 'Groups' options.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp has started rolling out the view profile picture in the group chat feature. The feature is available for WhatsApp for web beta testers. The feature is also available for select WhatsApp iOS beta testers.

Along with that, WhatsApp has started rolling out a self-chat feature. The new feature will let users send notes, reminders and shopping lists to themselves on WhatsApp. The feature will be available to all Android and iPhone users in the coming weeks.
To send a message to yourself-

Open WhatsApp on Android or iOS mobile.
Open the contact list. You will find your own contact at the top of the contacts list.
Tap your contact and you will be navigated to the self-chat screen where you can send messages to yourself.
