YouTube gets a redesign, pinch to zoom, and other major updates

YouTube gets a redesign, pinch to zoom, and other major updates. YouTube has rolled out a major update, which changes the interface of the app and even brings a few improvements. The latest software update also introduces pinch-to-zoom feature, Ambient mode, Precise seeking, and more. Here's every major feature that is coming to YouTube in the coming days.
YouTube links in video descriptions will change to buttons. In addition to this, actions such as like, share and download, have also been shifted to lower side to minimize distractions. The good thing for creators here is that the company has given more importance to the subscribe button by highlighting it more. Users will now see subscribe button in an oval-shaped white box, just near the creator's name.

The update also adds an ambient mode that adds a subtle effect just below a video. This feature will be available on web and mobile in a dark theme. Speaking of which, the company has also improved the dark theme and made it a shade darker to make the colors pop more on screen. This will roll out on web, mobile and Smart TVs.

YouTube has finally added the pinch-to-zoom feature, which is pretty much self-explanatory. With pinch to zoom, you can now zoom in and out of a video while on your iOS or Android phone. When you let go, the video stays zoomed. While this feature will offer greater details, people will only be able to enjoy this if the video has support for high resolution.

YouTube has also introduced a new Precise seeking feature, which lets you easily trace every part of a video. Whether you are on desktop or your mobile device, simply drag or swipe up while seeking to display a row of thumbnails in the video player and you’ll be able to make fine-tuned adjustments to get to the exact part in each video.

The company has also added the ability to long press anywhere on the player to seek and to double tap with two fingers to skip chapters. One will also find a graph that shows frequently replayed moments in a video.
