iPhone 15 Ultra said to replace next year's Pro Max model

Apple's latest iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models are significantly different from each other, and next year, the company could widen the gap between the Pro and Pro Max smartphones. According to notable Apple analyst and journalist Mark Gurman in his latest PowerOn newsletter for Bloomberg, the company might replace the Pro Max model with iPhone 15 Ultra. His latest newsletter also notes that next year's iPhone 15 series could see a major overhaul if we go by the company's three-year redesign cycle. One of the biggest changes expected next year is the addition of a Type-C port for charging on iPhones.
the development of an iPhone 15 Ultra variant. Gurman also acknowledged the development in a tweet earlier this month. Specifications-wise details remain unclear as they are too early to speculate. We can expect some of the basic upgrades next year, such as a new chipset, improved cameras, and faster-charging tech. Previously, Kuo said that Apple could re-assess its regular and Pro models with the iPhone 15 series to boost sales in a very competitive market.

Typically, Apple reserves the 'Pro Max' moniker for its top variants. Started with iPhones, the Pro Max moniker extended to headphones in 2020, with AirPod Pro Max. However, this year, Apple used the Ultra moniker - a name familiar in the Android space, especially with Samsung phones. It was used for the M1 line of chipsets for Macs - M1 Ultra chipset. The name got extended to the Watch series this year, following the launch of Apple's most rugged Apple Watch Max.

That means, Apple may even advertise the iPhone 15 Ultra as its most durable and premium phone ever. Naturally, it would be the most expensive iPhone in its catalogue. Currently, the Pro Max variants are the most expensive iPhones. In India, the iPhone 14 Pro Max's price starts at Rs 1,29,900, while the 14 Pro Max costs Rs 1,39,900.
