WhatsApp for Desktop gets improved version of voice notes

WhatsApp is rolling out a new, improved version of voice notes for those who use the desktop version of the messaging app. The company has started rolling out the ability to pause and resume voice recordings. This update comes weeks after the platform added the feature to let you listen to recordings before sending them.

However, the new feature is only available for the beta version, so if you haven’t enrolled for the beta program, then you won’t be able to try this feature. According to the report published by WABetaInfo, the latest update adds a new pause button, which basically replaces the stop icon that the stable version offers.

The new feature is self-explanatory and will let you pause any recording, which is a pretty useful option. With this, one will now be able to hear the voice note before sending it. You can then either delete or continue to record more if you want to add more to the voice note. Once you pause the recording, WhatsApp will display another recording button. You just need to tap on it to resume recording the voice note.

Currently, the stable version of WhatsApp only gives you the option to delete or send the voice note after recording it. There is also no feature for hearing a voice note before sending it. It is worth pointing out that the feature is already available for iOS users. The same feature is also not available for Android users as the platform is still working on this. But, WhatsApp is expected to make it available in the coming updates.

Besides, the cited source recently reported that the instant messaging app is planning to add a new colour to its Windows and macOS apps with WhatsApp beta for Desktop 2.2201.2.0. This might only be visible in the dark theme, with more greener chat bubbles. The Android version is also said to get a drawing tool that will allow users to draw on images and videos. This will be an extension of the pencil tool that is already available for users.
