Twitter testing new security features, may allow users with protected accounts to display their tweets

Twitter has been testing a lot of new features. The latest concepts shared by one of the designers reveal what the app has in store for its users. One of the features would let users with protected accounts make their tweets visible, switching between multiple accounts will also become simpler in the days to come and Twitter will also let users choose whether they want to make their check-in updates on the app private or public. The new features look promising, but they are only at the developmental stage. Twitter will plan a final rollout depending on the feedback it receives from the users.

Twitter designer Lena Emara has shared the early concepts of the upcoming features that would make the app healthier. Sharing the designs, Emara wrote, “Privacy is one of those things everyone wants, but it’s not a one-size-fits-all.Very early concepts in are ways I’m exploring to make Twitter healthier. These are just ideas and not being built (yet?), so your feedback is helpful!”

One of the first concepts show that Twitter will make it simpler for protected accounts to make their tweets visible. The designer reveals that if you have a protected account you most probably cannot see a reply to someone who isn’t following you, you may not know they can’t see your reply. However, Twitter is considering dropping a new reminder that would let you choose whether you want the person to see your reply or not. You can either choose to keep your tweet “protected” or “switch to public”.
Second feature that Twitter is testing will make things easier for people with multiple accounts on the app.”Have multiple accounts? I want to make it simpler for you to know which account you’re Tweeting from. Switching accounts today is doable but not obvious. This makes it clearer and puts your avatar, name, handle, and privacy status all in one visible place,” Emara said.

Twitter will also make changes in the discoverability front. Users will get an option to hide from account searches. The Twitter concept will send you a notification if accounts search for your username. Users can also choose if they want to be found that way or set a time limit for it. This could also help in minimising negative interactions.
