Google launches Threadit, a TikTok-like short video platform for professionals

Google has launched a new short video platform called Threadit but before you get too excited, you should know that this app is not for entertainment purposes. Threadit lets users record small videos to their team members to express their point of view or convey something that they had missed saying in a meeting. This is also a great tool for people who are not comfortable expressing their views in front of a larger audience. Using this tool, the professionals can simply record their opinion about something and send it across to either their team members or their manager.

COVID-19 does not seem to leave our way anytime soon so the remote working might continue for a little longer. This tool has been specifically designed for users to express their views in a short and crisp manner. Google has not launched a separate app for this so Threadit will be available on your chrome browser or as a chrome extension. This would help express better than emails or chats.

“We use Threadit to show each other our progress, ask questions or request feedback without needing to coordinate schedules. This helps us reduce unnecessary meetings while still becoming a tighter-knit team. We have more time to think and do focused work, and the meetings we keep are more effective and easier to schedule for everyone,” Keller Smith, Founder, and General Manager, Threadit said in the blog.

Keller said in the blog that this new extension would also minimize the need for a video meeting. Without meetings, a lot of time would also be saved.

In order to use Thread, who will have to speak straight to the camera and hit the record button. You can record as many short clips as you would like, and Threadit will stitch them all together into one cohesive video message. Once the tool is done stitching the video, you can send it to your team. You can attach the Threadit in your email as well.

To get the extension, you will have to sign to the website using your Gmail id. Post which you can access Threadit directly from your web browser or mobile device. You can also skip downloading your video and share the Threadit using the link.

Talking about the tool, Keller said, “Threadit gave us an opportunity to hear from everyone on our team, not just the loudest voices in a live meeting. We had more control over our time and could contribute when we were each ready.” The feature is being rolled out globally.Live TV
