67 students, 25 staff members test positive for coronavirus at Himachal school

Within days of schools reopening in Himachal Pradesh, a total of 67 students and 25 staff members of a school in Mandi district tested positive for Covid-19.

A total of 67 students including 47 girls, 20 boys and 25 staff members tested positive at Tibetan Children Village (TCV) School in Mandi district's Sojha.

"They tested positive when administration adopted a proactive approach on their arrival from outside state and carried out routine enhanced testing under its special testing campaign," a government spokesperson said.

Officials said that Covid-19 positive students of TCV school have travel history from outside state.

The spokesperson said that all students tested positive came to the state between 25th to 31st October from Arunachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Maharashtra and Nepal.

Meanwhile, the district administration took stock of the facilities available in the school premises and isolated the positive students and staff members.

They are under observation of the Health Department and if required would be shifted to Covid Care Centre or hospital.

The spokesperson said that all the barriers have been opened as per the guidelines of the Centre Government. "The state government is taking all preventive measures to make sure that no infected person stays in state to safeguard the local population," the spokesperson said.

Covid-19 tests have been increased in the state and about six thousand tests are being done regularly.
