IPL 2020: Death overs bowling has to be better against Delhi Capitals, says SRH skipper David Warner

The start to IPL 2020 has not been ideal for David Warner-led Sunrisers Hyderabad, as they are the only team yet to win a match in the tournament so far.

The SRH have lost both their matches so far - they lost their opener to RCB by 10 runs and followed it up with a 7 wicket loss to KKR - and are at the bottom of the points table so far.

On Tuesday, they will be taking on the table toppers Delhi Capitals, who have won both their matches so far.

So, during practice on Monday, skipper David Warner decided to take the onus on himself to ensure that every bit of their training session in Abu Dhabi was as per the plan.

Warner oversees his bowlers during net session

In a video posted by the Sunrisers Hyderabad on their official Twitter handle on Tuesday, Warner could be seen standing in the nets and giving directions to their bowlers on the kind of delivery to deliver.

‘Yorker, hit the stump’, he said to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who then ran in to do exactly that. ‘Good length’ he told another bowler who then ran in with the ball.

At the end of the session, Warner tells the audience, “The bowlers were bowling death bowling. Target practice. For 20 minutes I was trying to execute as well as I could for the death overs. Few Change ups. Trying to work on our skills.”

“The thing is that if we are working on our skills, practicing it at training, and we don’t deliver in the game here [against Delhi Capitals] and there, at least we know that we have done the practice. As I always say perfect practice makes us perfect,” the Australian added. There was also an admission of the Sunrisers Hyderabad middle-order not being able to live up to what was expected of them.

The practice session started with the middle-order batting first, and Warner said, “The plan today is to get the middle-order batting in here first against some old balls. Then the top order will come in here facing some of the new balls.”
