15 test coronavirus positive after attending wedding ceremony in Rajasthan's Bhilwara



Awedding ceremony with 250 attendees took place in Rajasthan's Bhilwara on June 19 after which the groom's father and 14 other people who had attended the procession tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

According to doctors, many elderly including the groom's aunt and uncle tested coronavirus positive, while his grandfather died of the infection.

Seventeen people including the bride were tested negative for the infection.

All the 15 patients were admitted to hospital and 127 others were quarantined. The Rajasthan government has asked the groom's father to bear expenses of quarantine facility and treatment of these people in the form of a fine.

As of now, Rs 6,26,600 has been spent on quarantine facility and coronavirus treatment.

Bhilwara District Magistrate Rajendra Bhatt issued a notice to the Tehsildar saying that this amount is to be recovered from the groom's father within 3 days and deposited in Chief Minister Relief Fund.

The district magistrate also said that the expenses incurred in future will be recovered from the groom's family.

According to the Rajasthan government, this action was taken under the Epidemic Act, according to which no more than 50 people are allowed to gather in any wedding ceremony.

The wedding ceremony was held on June 19 and people started testing positive from June 21.
