Covid-19 crisis: Mohanlal donates Rs 50 lakh to Kerala Chief Minister's Relief Fund

The novel coronavirus pandemic has claimed over 80,000 lives across the globe and it has brought the entire world to a standstill. Many celebrities down South have stepped forward to contribute huge amounts for relief measures carried out by both Central and State governments.

The latest to join them is Malayalam Superstar Mohanlal, who has contributed Rs 50 lakh to Kerala Chief Minister's Relief Fund. On Tuesday evening, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan revealed the same in a press meet. The actor had also written a letter appreciating the government's efforts.

Mohanlal also thanked the Chief Minister for the precautionary measures and guidelines that have been practiced in the state to contain the further spread of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Reportedly, Mohanlal is one of the first actors in the Malayalam industry to come forward and contribute an amount for coronavirus relief works.

It is worth mentioning that the actor was also a part of an awareness video, titled Family, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Rajinikanth, Diljit Dosanjh, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Chiranjeevi, and Prosenjit Chatterjee. The film emphasized on the importance of staying at home in the fight against the deadly virus.

Mohanlal is currently waiting for the release of historical film, Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, directed by Priyadarshan. The story is based on the real-life warrior Kunjali Marakkar, a naval chief of the Zamorin of Kozhikode.
