Vivo X Fold+ with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, faster charging tech launched

Vivo launched its first Snapdragon 8 Gen 1-powered foldable smartphone, Vivo X Fold, earlier this year. Nearly six months after its launch, the company has unveiled the Vivo X Fold+ that features the new-gen Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset by Qualcomm. The two foldable smartphones are more or less similar in terms of design, but the new model features some slight tweaks. Most importantly, it houses a bigger 4,730mAh battery (against the 4,600mAh unit in the original variant) with faster-charging capabilities.
the new Vivo X Fold+ remains limited to the Chinese market. Other Chinese Android brands like Oppo and Xiaomi have also limited their foldable smartphones to their home country.

The new Vivo X Fold+ price in China starts at CNY 9,999, which is roughly Rs 1,15,000 for the base 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant. Its 12GB RAM + 512GB storage option costs CNY 10,999 (approx Rs 1,25,000). The Vivo X Fold+ remains more affordable than the Galaxy Fold 4, which costs Rs 1,54,999 for the base variant.

Vivo X Fold+ specifications
As mentioned earlier, the Vivo X Fold+ retains a similar design. It still features an 8.03-inch AMOLED primary display with a 2K+ (1,916x2,160 pixels) resolution and up to 120Hz refresh rate. On the outside, there's a 6.53-inch AMOLED cover display with a full-HD+ (1,080x2,520 pixels) resolution. The phone still operates with a notebook-like folding mechanism. Despite carrying a bigger 4,730mAh battery unit, Vivo claims the weight of the phone remains unchanged at 311 grams. This is much heavier than the Galaxy Z Fold 4, which weighs 263 grams.

Vivo has continued its partnership with Zeiss for its premium smartphones. The Vivo X Fold+ features a quad rear camera system that comprises a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, a 12-megapixel portrait shooter, and an 8-megapixel periscope camera with 5x optical zoom. There is a 16-megapixel selfie camera for selfies. The cover display also houses a selfie camera.

The phone now supports 80W wired and 50W wireless fast charging. To recall, the original Vivo X Fold charges at 66W with a cable and 50W wirelessly.

Other key features of the Vivo X Fold+ include Android 12-based OriginOS Ocean, under-display fingerprint sensor, dual-SIM (nano), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.2, and NFC support. Under the hood, the phone is powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset.
