iPhone 14 is coming soon and here is how it could be different from iPhone 13
Apple will likely announce its new iPhone 14 series in September next month and the launch is said to take place on Sept. 13. While the official launch date is yet to be revealed, we do know that the iPhone 14 series event is not too far away. But, those who have been waiting for the new iPhone 14 (standard model) might be disappointed to know that this will reportedly be a minor upgrade over the iPhone 13, which is something that many leaks have suggested so far. Here is how it could be different from iPhone 13, and the information mentioned below is based on the leaks.
Design, display
The iPhone 14 is said to come with a design similar to the iPhone 13 series and only the Pro models are expected to get a major design upgrade. So, no you are not still not getting the punch-hole display design here that we have been seeing on most Android phones. You will continue to see wide notch design on the front and the same dual camera setup design at the back of the standard model, as per reports. The iPhone 14 reportedly has a glass back design with aluminum frames, just like last year’s iPhones.
This one will likely feature the same 6.1-inch OLED display, but might have support for higher refresh rate. The screen could refresh at 90Hz, instead of 60Hz display seen on iPhone 13. The iPhone 14 will have flat sides, similar to most iPhones out there. We do expect the new model to have a higher peak brightness for better outdoor viewing experience. The rest of the details are yet to be revealed.
Chipset, software, battery
Apple’s iPhone 14 smartphone is said to come with the same Bionic A15 chipset that is powering the iPhone 13 smartphone. This is something that many Android manufacturers are already doing offering an older chip with the standard version and the new one with the premium model. But, the rumour mill claims that Apple will offer faster LPDDR5 RAM and the base model could be 6GB RAM. This should help offer slightly better performance. The new A16 chip will likely power the iPhone 14 Pro models this year.
There is no doubt that the iPhone 14 series will ship with the latest iOS 16 operating system. But, old iPhone users don’t have to worry as Apple usually releases the latest OS for most of the iPhones. While there is no information of the battery unit, we do expect the new models to offer slightly better battery life than the new ones.
Camera
Just like iPhone 13, the upcoming iPhone 14 model is also said to pack a dual camera setup at the back side. One of them is said to be the same 12-megapixel primary camera, but this one could have a new ultra-wide-angle camera. Don’t expect to see a dedicated zoom lens as this will likely be available only on the Pro models. The standard version could use the same ultra-wide camera from iPhone 13 Pro model, which has support for auto-focusing and macro capabilities. The rest of the details are still unknown.
