Twitter has been hogging the limelight ever since Tesla CEO Elon Musk took over the company for $44 billion. Musk is expected to make changes to Twitter policies. Apart from the policies, he is also expected to replace Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal and terminate legal head Vijaya Gadde. Musk had openly criticised Gadde on Twitter. Now former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has raked up a controversy with his statementhe has said that he was never in favor of permanent bans.
Interestingly, at the time when Former US President Donald Trump was banned from Twitter, Dorsey was spearheading the micro-blogging site. But it looks like he had no intentions of banning Trump from the platform after he was found guilty of inciting rioters. Dorsey has also made shocking revelations about the “shortcomings” of the company. Dorsey’s tweets come at a time when reports of him being reinstated as the company’s CEO are doing the rounds. Musk has publicly said that he has zero faith in the company’s current leadership and that was more than obvious when he attacked Gadde on Twitter.
Now Dorsey has highlighted the shortcomings of Twitter in a series of tweets. “I have tried taking a break from Twitter recently, but I must say: the company has always tried to do its best given the information it had. Every decision we made was ultimately my responsibility*. In the cases we were wrong or went too far, we admitted it and worked to correct it,” he said.
Dorsey went on to add that only through a transparent system can trust be earned in policy and operations. He also admitted that not responding to issues that needed quick fixes was his failing.
“It's also crazy and wrong that individuals or companies bear this responsibility. As I’ve said before, I don’t believe any permanent ban (with the exception of illegal activity) is right, or should be possible. This is why we need a protocol that’s resilient to the layers above.”
Dorsey clearly hinted at Trump’s ban from the platform. =Trump, who was indefinitely banned from Twitter last year, is happy with his own social media platform named Truth. Trump, however, believes that Musk is a good man and will bring improvements to the social media platform. But he has no intention of returning to the platform he was once banned from.
"I am not going on Twitter, I am going to stay on TRUTH," Trump told Fox News. "I hope Elon buys Twitter because he’ll make improvements to it and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on TRUTH. "The bottom line is, no, I am not going back to Twitter." Trump further added that not tweeting but he will be “TRUTHing” over the next week.
