Xiaomi Smart TV 5A launched in India, brings Dolby Audio and Android TV 11 at Rs 15,499


Xiaomi held its mega event today in India. It launched the Xiaomi 12 Pro flagship, the Xiaomi Pad 5 tablet, and a range of new Android TVs. The TVs particularly come in two different categories. On one hand, you have affordable televisions that bring the goodness of Android TV 11 and Dolby Audio. On the other hand, Xiaomi launched its first OLED TV in India and it will appeal to premium customers.
Let us focus on the affordable range of televisions that Xiaomi has introduced in India. The new Smart TV 5A range has three models. There is a 32-inch model that will appeal to the masses. Then, there is a mid-tier 40-inch model that brings better specifications for a higher price. Finally, you have a 43-inch model in the series that brings the best specifications and features in the series.

The first sale of the televisions begins on April 30 on Flipkart, the Xiaomi website, and Mi Store near you. Early birds will be able to grab a cashback of Rs 2,000 by using an HDFC Bank credit card.

The TVs in the series come in three sizes, but only the 32-inch version comes with an HD panel. The other two have Full-HD panels, which means native apps, such as YouTube, will play 1080p videos. These TVs have thin bezels, which Xiaomi claims will give them a trendy design. Xiaomi said it has used its proprietary Vivid Picture Engine image-processing technology to bring visual enhancements such as better contrast and colours in videos.

The 32-inch model has 20W speakers, but the 40-inch and 43-inch models have 24W speakers, giving users a good TV experience. Xiaomi said the speakers support Dolby Audio, DTS-X, and DTS-X Virtual. Xiaomi also claimed the volume controls have also become granular now, which means you get a more detailed level bar for increasing and decreasing the volume.

The new Xiaomi Smart TV 5A uses Android TV 11 but has the PatchWall UI on top. That is the company’s proprietary software for televisions and it combines several streaming services into one. Users get recommendations from across streaming services, based on machine learning. There is also support for Google Assistant, Chromecast, and Google Play Store
