Poco F4 GT flagship with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 launched at around Rs 49,000

Poco F4 GT has arrived on the international market after weeks of leaks and teasers. This is the company’s flagship phone of the year. That means it is loaded with the goodness of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, which also powers the likes of Samsung Galaxy S22, OnePlus 10 Pro, Xiaomi 12 Pro, and Realme GT 2 Pro. Poco’s new phone is the successor to the F3 GT, which was the company’s anticipated phone last year, and the company has placed big hopes on the F4 GT.

Whether or not the Poco F4 GT will attract customers and, more importantly, Poco loyalists is something only time will tell, but for now, let us go through the fact that the Poco F4 GT is not a brand-new phone. It is a rebranded Redmi K50 Gaming Edition, which is available to buy in China only. But for customers outside of mainland China, the Poco F4 GT is new.

Poco F4 GT price
The Poco F4 GT is priced at EUR 599 (roughly Rs 49,000) for the 8GB+128GB variant and the variant with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of memory is priced at EUR 699 (roughly Rs 57,200). Early birds can get the base variant for EUR 499 (roughly Rs 40,800) and the higher version for EUR 599. The Poco F4 GT comes in Stealth Black, Cyber Yellow, and Knight Silver with the Apex design on the back.

Poco F4 GT specifications
The Poco F4 GT is a flagship phone, but because it tries to undercut the bigwigs, it makes compromises on a few things. Essentially, this phone is meant for gamers and they would not be bothered by the lack of the said features. But, otherwise, the Poco F4 GT comes across as a good phone — at least on paper. It uses the high-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Being a gaming-centric phone, the phone packs two bigger liquid cooling areas inside to maintain the temperatures.

Gaming continuously takes a toll on battery life, but Poco claims its 120W fast-charging technology on the Poco F4 GT will give a full charge in around 17 minutes. And to facilitate the handling of the phone while charging, Poco has included an L-shaped cable with the phone. Other hardware enhancements include pop-up triggers on the phone’s edge. The Poco F4 GT also has several software customisations to give a better gaming experience. These features are also useful for regular purposes, the company said.

The Poco F4 GT has a 6.67-inch flat display that uses an AMOLED panel with a FullHD resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. Inside the Poco F4 GT is a 4700mAh battery with fast-charging support. It has a 64-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera on the back. For selfies, the Poco F4 GT has a 20-megapixel camera inside the punch-hole design. For a better gaming experience, the Poco F4 GT also brings symmetrical quad speakers and a triple mic setup. The phone runs Android 12-based MIUI 13.

At its event, Poco also launched its first smartwatch, the Poco Watch. Now, even the Poco Watch is supposedly a rebranded Redmi Watch 2, which was launched in China but never made to the markets outside. Poco launched the Poco Watch for EUR 79 (roughly Rs 6,470). There is also the Poco Buds Pro Genshin Impact Edition, which is likely the rebranded Redmi Buds 3 Pro. These earbuds cost EUR 69, which is roughly Rs 5,600
