WhatsApp starts rolling out stable version of multi-device feature

About eight months ago, WhatsApp offered early access to multi-device support on WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS. However, as per the latest development, the multi-device support is now out of beta. This means that it is no longer in its testing mode and is headed for a stable release. The beta mode of the multi-device feature was for people to test the multi-device feature. It was an opt-in feature designed exclusively for users who wanted to experience the multi-device feature. They could opt for it anytime. But now WhatsApp has started rolling out the stable version of the feature, which means it is no longer an opt-in feature. The feature will now get activated for all users.
The multi-device feature lets users access four devices at the same time. In the beta mode, people could log into the desktop version of WhatsApp without requiring the primary phone with an active internet connection. WhatsApp had previously revealed that ever since it had rolled out the beta version of the multi-device feature, it had witnessed an increase in people accessing"the feature directly through the web browser. The feature made it extremely convenient for people who are working on their laptops and computers for the better part of the day and do not have the time to check their phones all the time. This feature makes it simpler to send and receive WhatsApp messages directly from the desktop version of the app.

Wabetainfo had previously reported that WhatsApp was gearing up to roll out an update to the multi-device feature. However, now several users have reported that WhatsApp multi-device support is now out of beta. With this update, WhatsApp users will be able to log in to a single WhatsApp using four devices simultaneously without connecting to their phones. Previously, the multi-device feature was only limited to the beta users or the users who had opted in to access the multi-device feature.

The WhatsApp features tracker has also reported that WhatsApp users may not opt-out of the multi-device feature once the stable version is rolled out to them.

It is important to note that WhatsApp users now use WhatsApp on their phones and up to four other non-phone devices simultaneously. This clearly means that it cannot be used on a secondary phone but it can be used on an iPad or a tablet and laptop and computer irrespective of their operating system. "Each companion device will connect to your WhatsApp independently while maintaining the same level of privacy and security through end-to-end encryption that people who use WhatsApp have come to expect. Importantly, we have developed new technologies to maintain end-to-end encryption while still managing to sync your data — such as contact names, chat archives, starred messages, and more — across devices," WhatsApp had stated in a blog. WhatsApp has noted that the architecture to let only one phone remain in the picture makes it easy to deliver a seamlessly synchronized experience between a phone and companion device without compromising on security.
