WhatsApp rolls out redesigned voice call interface for beta testers

It seems that WhatsApp is in no mood to stop as it is always testing a bunch of new features to offer its users a better messaging experience. The platform just recently added the ability to play voice messages in the background. WhatsApp has now rolled out a redesigned interface for voice calls.

However, the new interface is currently available only for those iOS users who are using the beta version of WhatsApp. According to a report by WaBetaInfo, users will now see a new interface when they place voice calls on the messaging app. One will also see real-time voice waveforms during a group call, which is basically an indication to let you know about who all are speaking.

The cited source also says that WhatsApp also displays a wallpaper to voice call interface; however, you won’t be able to edit or remove it. There are chances that the platform might give you the option to do that later.

The redesigned interface is already available for Android beta testers. The iOS users can now also check out the updated voice call interface, but for that, you need to make sure that you are on the iOS 22.5.0.70 version. It is currently unknown when the feature will be made available to the stable version of WhatsApp.

Besides, WhatsApp recently rolled out an update for iPhone and iPad users that allows them to play voice messages in the background. In simpler terms, one will be able to play the audio files outside of the chat window. This will likely offer a big relief to users as there are times when you need to check other chats and even want to listen to the voice message at the same time. It is currently unknown as to when WhatsApp plans to offer the same feature for Android and Web versions.

One of the recent updates also added the ability to pause and resume voice messages during recording. One can basically stop a recording at any time and again start recording the voice message without losing the old one. The process to record a voice message is the same and the app just added a pause button. You can press and hold the mic icon to start a recording.
