Google Pixel Watch expected to launch in May

Google’s rumored smartwatch may finally be released in May. As per a new leak from tipster Jon Proesser, Google might release the Pixel Watch on May 26 this year. The rumored watch by Google has been subjected to a lot of leaks and renders from notable sources, but there has not been a single word of confirmation about the same by the company. It was earlier speculated that Google would announce the Pixel Watch at Google IO 2021. However, things didn’t happen as planned. Google announced the other rumored products, including the Pixel 6, Pixel 5a but not the Pixel Watch.
Noted tipster Jon Prosser, who has got most of his predictions about product launches right, said in a tweet that Google Pixel Watch may finally arrive on May 26. “Pixel Watch. I have heard that Google is planning on launching it on Thursday, May 26th — over a year since we leaked it. This is the first time we’ve seen a set date on the device behind the scenes. Google is known for pushing back dates — but if they do, we’ll know,” he said. The date is also in line with Google’s I/O developer conference.

Earlier, Prosser had speculated that the watch might arrive with the Pixel 6 but then revealed that the launch has been delayed. He had also shared the complete renders of the purported Pixel Watch in a YouTube video. Previous reports have revealed that the Google Pixel Watch has been condemned as “Rohan”, an Indian name.

As per the leaks and renders, the Pixel Watch will be the company’s offering in the Premium Watch segment. The 3D renders reveal that the smartwatch may come in a slim form factor and a curved display that wraps around a metallic frame. On the right side of the dial, a huge crown button was shown but the functionality of the button was not specified in the report. Nothing about the specifications of the watch has been known but in the renders, a few trackers, including Maps integration, Heart rate monitoring, and Step counter, were spotted on the home screen of the watch.

Google had previously sent out a survey asking people about the features they would like to see on Wear OS. The feature list included things like SPO2 (oxygenation) tracking, sleep apnea detection, sleep analysis, heartbeat alerts, recovery time monitoring, stress tracking, the pairing of medical devices and gym equipment, rep detection, and calorie tracking. Some of the features and trackers listed above may come on the Pixel Watch.
