Oppo Reno 7, Reno 7 Pro, and Reno 7 SE with AMOLED displays, triple cameras launched

Oppo Reno 7 series has finally arrived in China after weeks of rumours and then official teasers. As expected, there are three phones in the series; the Reno 7, the Reno 7 Pro, and, for the first time, the Reno 7 SE, which replaces the Pro+ variant. The new Reno 7 phones do not stray far from their previous-generation counterparts but bring powerful chipsets and better cameras. Oppo has gone with a mix of MediaTek and Qualcomm chipsets on the Reno 7-series phones that come at different prices.
The launch has taken place in China for now, but there are reports suggesting that Oppo is planning to launch at least two Reno 7 series phones in India next year. These may be the Reno 7 and the Reno 7 Pro that may launch in India sometime in the first quarter of 2022. The reports have also said that the Reno 7 SE will not ever launch in India, but take this information with a grain of salt until Oppo confirms it.

Oppo Reno 7, Reno 7 Pro, and Reno 7 SE prices
The Oppo Reno 7 8GB RAM and 128GB storage version costs CNY 2,699. Its 8GB RAM and 256GB version costs CNY 2,999, and the model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage costs CNY 3,299. It comes in Morning Gold, Starry Night Black, and Star Rain Wash colours.

The Oppo Reno 7 Pro 8GB RAM and 256GB storage version costs CNY 3,699 while its 12GB RAM and 256GB storage version costs CNY 3,999. The phone comes in Mu Xuejin, Starry Night Black, and Star Rain Wash colours.

The Oppo Reno 7 SE 8GB RAM and 128GB storage version is priced at CNY 2,199 while its 8GB RAM and 256GB storage version costs CNY 2,399. It comes in Morning Gold, Moon Night Black, and Star Rain Wash colours.

The Oppo Reno 7 and Reno 7 SE share the same screen size of 6.43-inches. Both phones support Full-HD+ AMOLED displays with up to a 90Hz refresh rate and a maximum touch sampling rate of 180Hz. However, the Reno 7 has a screen-to-body ratio of 91.7 per cent, while the Reno 7 SE’s ratio is 90.8 per cent. Both displays come with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. The battery on both phones is also 4500mAh, but while the Reno 7 supports 60W fast charging, the Reno 7 SE has 33W charging support. Both phones run Android 11-based ColorOS 12. That is where the similarities end, because while the Reno 7 uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor, the Reno 7 SE has a MediaTek Dimensity 900 SoC inside.

Camera-wise, the Reno 7 seems better with an array of a 64-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. The Reno 7 SE, on the other hand, has a 48-megapixel main camera and two 2-megapixel auxiliary cameras for macro and portrait photography. Selfie snappers also differ, where the Reno 7 has a 32-megapixel camera, while the Reno 7 SE settles for a 16-megapixel camera on the front.

The top-end Reno 7 Pro has better specifications than what the other two have. It has a 6.55-inch Full-HD+ Super AMOLED display with up to 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate, along with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. The phone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 1200 MAX processor, which has just debuted. The phone runs Android 11-based ColorOS 12. Its cameras on the back include a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 sensor, which is used on Find X3 Pro, a wide-angle camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. For selfies, there is a 32-megapixel camera. Oppo Reno 7 Pro is backed by a 4500mAh battery with 65W fast charging.
