WhatsApp spotted testing message reactions feature, here is how it looks
Afew days ago it was reported that WhatsApp will now let users react to messages, now the first glimpses of the upcoming feature have surfaced online. The Facebook-owned messaging app is working to bring emoji reactions to messages. The feature is already available on apps like Facebook, Instagram, iMessage and even Linkedin. So if you do not like to reply to every message that you get, you can simply react to the message using emojis.
Noted tipster Wabetainfo was the first to report about WhatsApp’s upcoming feature. The screenshot shared by Wabetainfo revealed that the emoji reactions would appear right below the messages sent on the app. The feature will be available for both individual and group chats. Wabetainfor in its report says that people in the group will be able to view it individually who reacted to the message.
“As you can see, this message contains 7 reactions and, at least for now, it’s possible to react using any emoji you want. Reactions aren’t anonymous, so everyone in the conversation will be able to see who reacted to a specific message. Even if the screenshot was taken from a version of WhatsApp for iOS, WhatsApp is working on bringing message reactions on WhatsApp beta for Android as well,” the report reads.
Wabetainfo also revealed that you can react to a message multiple times with different emojis. The process is also end-to-end encrypted so nobody outside the chat can see your reactions. Messages can have an infinite amount of reactions, but if you have more than 999 reactions, you will read “999+". This is especially applicable in group chats.
The WhatsApp features tracker reveals that the feature is currently under development. The final product may differ from what has appeared during the beta updates.
On a related note, WhatsApp officially rolled out the possibility to transfer chat history from iPhone to Android phone. However, the feature will not be rolled out to all Android phones initially, WhatsApp is starting with Samsung phones that are running on Android 10 and higher. To transfer the data, users will require a USB-Type C cable to the lighting connector. Even after you have transferred your data from an old device to a new phone, your data will be stored in old device for as long as you want. If you want to get rid of it, you can delete it manually.
