Realme 8s launch teased, will be world's first phone with Dimensity 810 chip

Realme has confirmed that it will soon launch the first Dimensity 810-powered smartphone. Although there is no name for this phone in this announcement, it is likely the Realme 8s, which has been in the rumour mill for quite some time. MediaTek recently launched the Dimensity 810 chipset as an upgrade to its Dimensity 800 series, famous for mid-range 5G chipsets. The Realme 8s will be the third phone in the 8 series and is likely to debut alongside the Realme 8i later this year.
In a tweet, Realme wrote: “Another First has been added to the long list of #realme! Our latest Smartphone will be featuring the World's First @MediaTekIndia Dimensity 810 5G Processor for an epic performance. Stay Tuned!”

The Dimensity 810 processor packs support for dual 5G standby, Cortex-A76 performance cores at a 2.4GHz clock speed, and Cortex-A55 energy efficiency cores with a clock speed of 1.8GHz. The processor is coupled with the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, which is good enough for games such as Battlegrounds Mobile India at their default settings. The processor supports up to LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. All of that is likely to come to the Realme 8s, as announced by the company.

Even though the company is not explicitly talking about the Realme 8s, Realme’s CEO for India and Europe markets, Madhav Sheth, previously confirmed that there will be Realme 8s and Realme 8i phones slated for launch later this year. Rumours suggest the Realme 8s will be a powerful phone, while the Realme 8i will suit the affordable price segment. The Realme 8s was previously rumoured to bring a new MediaTek chipset, and the latest announcement by the company falls in line with that.

Other rumours suggest the Realme 8s will come with a 6.5-inch display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The Realme 8s may come with a 64-megapixel camera on the back, along with two more sensors, but their specifications are not clear at the moment. The Realme 8s may also pack a 5000mAh battery with 33W fast charging.

There are also some renders that show the Realme 8s’ design will be identical to that of the Realme 8, which arrived earlier this year. Realme has so far launched the Realme 8 and Realme 8 Pro in India, wherein the latter arrived as the company's first 108-megapixel camera phone. What unique selling point the Realme 8s will pitch is something I am not sure about right now, but the phone is going to be an attractive offering in the affordable price segment.
