OnePlus Nord 2 gets battery improvements for gaming in new OxygenOS update, OnePlus 7 phones get Bitmoji clock

OnePlus is rolling out yet another software update for its OnePlus Nord 2. Launched just over a month back, the device has already received several software improvements and now gets a battery optimisation for games. Alongside, the company's OnePlus 7 and 7T series smartphones are also receiving an OTA update that brings the latest security patch, system improvements and new additions to ambient display.

Marked OxygenOS 11.3.A.10, the new update for the Nord 2 has been spotted rolling out to some devices already. The 245MB OTA update brings a total of 5 improvements to the Nord 2. These include system improvements, battery optimisation while gaming, new Android security patch, a fix for the face unlock issue and improved camera stability.

Other than the overall enhancements to the system, OnePlus states that the new OxygenOS update brings optimisations to PUBG and other games on the Nord 2. This will help "reduce system power consumption" on the Nord 2 during gaming. It also improves the face unlock, which was found to be failing in certain conditions. The security patch level has also been upgraded to the latest August 2021

The update has started rolling out to Nord 2 devices in India and was spotted recently by XDA Developers. The publication also highlighted an OxygenOS update for the OnePlus 7, 7 Pro, 7T, and 7T Pro.

As a highlight, the OxygenOS 11.0.3.1 brings improvements to the Ambient Display on the devices in the form of a couple of new features. One is the Bitmoji clock co-developed with Snapchat, that promises to show the user's personal Bitmoji avatar on the ambient display. This avatar changes throughout the day as per the user's activities and surroundings. There is also a new screenshot feature for the ambient display.

The new OxygenOS update for the OnePlus 7 and 7T devices also contains the August 2021 security patch level. It further stabilises the NFC feature and brings the OnePlus store to the four smartphones.

OnePlus is expected to rollout the update to a wider audience in the coming days, depending upon the user feedback for the system changes.
