Nikon Z fc retro-style camera launched with 20.9-megapixel sensor

We had earlier reported that Nikon may launch a new retro-style camera. The camera maker has finally unveiled the Nikon Z fc mirrorless camera. It is a DX-format camera with a 20.9-megapixel sensor. It offers the latest technology and features packed in a vintage body. The company calls Nikon Z fc to be "featuring a heritage-inspired design" with modern-day camera capabilities to shoot self-portraits, video blogs, and street photography. The new Z-mount camera is said to be compact and lightweight that can be carried easily by photographers.

Nikon Z fc camera: specs and features
Nikon Z fc boasts a 20.9-megapixel CMOS sensor and EXPEED 6 image processor. The 209-point hybrid autofocus system included in the camera covers approximately 85 percent of the frame. There is an Eye-Detection Autofocus feature available which locks the focus onto the subject's eyes, including both humans and animals. This feature helps in capturing clear shots even if the subject is moving. The camera has a dedicated ISO dial with a range from 100-to-51200 as well.

The camera boasts 4K recording capabilities for video content creators. Slo-mo videos can be shot with the 1080p/120p setting, or by using 4x/5x in-camera slow-motion modes. Users can create 4K timelapses with the help of a built-in interval timer feature. There is an 11FPS continuous shooting mode option on the new Z fc camera. Other features include a vari-angle touchscreen LCD display which flips out to face the camera user. There is an electronic viewfinder (EVF) included in the camera which measures 0.39 inches and features a 2.36m-dot OLED display. The camera has a single SD card slot.

The retro-style camera design, in black and silver colour options, attracts the attention of camera users. However, the company has brought six different colour variants of Nikon Z fc - white, coral pink, mint green, sand beige, amber brown and natural gray.

Alongside Nikon Z fc, the company has announced two new lenses to complement the camera body. It includes NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm F3.5-6.3 VR, and NIKKOR Z 28mm F2.8 (SE). There is also a special announcement regarding the development of the third lens of the same line-up and it is NIKKOR Z DX 18-140mm F3.5-6.3 VR. Nikon says that "The lens is scheduled for release during 2021. This will be a versatile lens for users looking to capture wide-angle to telephoto focal lengths as well as at short distances."
