Poco F3 GT India launch confirmed, smartphone to have MediaTek Dimesity 1200 chip

Poco has confirmed the India launch of its upcoming smartphone Poco F3 GT. The new F series smartphone will target gamers. Interestingly, this is only the second F series smartphone to launch in India, following 2018’s highly successful Poco F1. The launch was confirmed by Poco India Country Director Anuj Sharma through a tweet, days after he had confirmed India Today Tech that the smartphone maker is working on a F1 successor.

The teaser reveals that while the Poco F3 GT is launching in India, it will be introduced only in the third quarter. The teaser ends with texting reading ‘Q3 coming soon’ which means that the phone is likely to be introduced in the country in July 2021. The teaser also confirms that the smartphone will come with MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chip.

"Locked & loaded, finger on the trigger The next F is closer than you thought. Good things come to those who wait, best things to those who never give up!” the tweet read, with a reference to the triggers on the phone for gaming.

Poco F3 GT specifications and features
The Poco F3 GT is expected to come with a 6.67-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with a 20:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It comes with an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC with 6G of RAM.
The phone has a triple rear camera setup that has a 64-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.7 lens, coupled with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle shooter and a 2-megapixel macro shooter. There is a 16-megapixel selfie camera sensor at the front.

The connectivity options on the phone include a USB Type-C port and WiFi-6. The phone should feature a side mounted fingerprint scanner.

What do we know about the pricing of Poco F3 GT?
The Poco F3 GT is expected to be a rebranded version of the Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition. The latter was launched in China at CNY 1,999 (around Rs 22,800) for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model. It also comes in an 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant at CNY 2,199 (around Rs 25,100), 8GB RAM and 256GB storage model at CNY 2,399 (around Rs 27,400) and 12GB RAM and 128GB storage option at CNY 2,399 (around 27,400). The top end 12GB RAM and 128GB storage model costs CNY 2,699 (around Rs 30,800).

In an exclusive conversation with India Today Tech earlier this week, Anuj had confirmed that the Poco F1 successor will be more expensive than the first phone but, the pricing will be kept close to the global pricing.

Ideally, you will be looking at price at which the Poco was launched in global markets i.e. around 350 to 400 euros (around Rs 31,000 and Rs 35,000). We are trying to get it to India at that price because you can’t do a one trick, high performance kind of phone once you get into that price category,” he said.

Going by this, even the Poco F3 GT could cost between Rs 25,000 and Rs 30,000 in the country. However, the exact pricing will be known at the time of launch.Live TV
