After advanced search feature, Twitter rolls out fact pages, SOS lists to look for Covid resources

Earlier this week Twitter rolled out the advanced search feature for users that will help them customise their search for information specific to time, place and hashtags. As people turn to Twitter to seek help and post information, the micro-blogging site has now also rolled out more tools like SOS lists, prompts, fact pages and a live page to help users get access to resources they look for.

“As COVID-19 vaccinations become more widely available, we want you to have access to the latest vaccine info in your country. This week you’ll see a prompt in your timeline that links to sources about vaccine safety, efficacy, and news from public health experts,” Twitter announced through its handle.

Twitter notes that the SOS resources page will surface information from those offering or seeking immediate help. Users looking for access to hospital beds, oxygen, and food can visit this page which gets updates in real-time as people put out their emergency Tweets. Further, Twitter has also rolled out Moments that will help users get facts from reliable sources as there is a lot of unverified leads and misinformation on the platform as well. Twitter notes that these dedicated Moments about vaccine safety, how to stay safe and more, including detailed and accredited information from organisations like the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare India (MoHFW) and World Health Organization (WHO), among others. The covid 19 facts page will make it easier for users to find information verified by official sources.

Twitter is also releasing lists and prompts. While the lists will curate all tweets from accounts on that list in one place, the prompts will feature the latest information about COVID-19 vaccines in both English and Hindi. Twitter Lists include information from health authorities, public health experts, health journalists, fact-checkers, and other authoritative sources. Twitter has also created a List of verified organisations that are engaging in COVID-19 relief work that you can follow on Twitter.

Further, Twitter is also rolling out a live page that will give information to users about COVID-19 in real-time and unfiltered. Twitter is also sharing tips to cope with Covid 19 through one of its lists.

Twitter further noted that if the platform receives more requests to withhold content from the Government of India within the country, “we will continue to engage openly and constructively based on our overarching commitment to serve the public conversation during a crisis.”

Earlier this week, Twitter has blocked several tweets made by some popular handles, including handles belonging to Member of Parliament Revanth Reddy, West Bengal Minister Moloy Ghatak, actor Vineet Kumar Singh, and filmmakers Vinod Kapri and Avinash Das, after the central government sent a notice to the company saying that these tweets were not in compliance with India's IT law.
