Sony PlayStation 5 Digital Edition launch delayed in India
A Twitter account that is tracking the Indian launch of PS5 is the first one to report this news on social media. Meanwhile, a report from IGN also claimed that they have verified the news from the sources at retail.
According to the IGN report, they have contacted Sony to know why the PS5 Digital Edition and accessories are going to skip the India launch. In return, the company has reverted over email saying, “PS5 Digital Edition and select peripherals (Dual Sense charging station, HD camera, and PS headset) will not be available in the launch window. Please monitor our official channels for updates on release dates.”
What this means is that only the PlayStation 5 disc drive version will be available for sale in India initially upon launch, along with the Media remote. The IGN report also said that game stores in India have finally gotten their allocations of the PS5 disc version. With just three days to go for the pre-orders to begin, Sony has not yet announced the guidelines for the pre-orders.
Some of the big game titles have been confirmed for the PS5, including Horizon Forbidden West, Resident Evil 8: Village, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Final Fantasy XVI, a new Ratchet and Clank game, Hogwarts Legacy, a new Oddworld title, Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition, a new Gran Turismo title, God of War: Ragnarok, and Five Nights at Freddy’s.
Sony finally announced the launch date for the PlayStation 5 in India earlier this month. The PlayStation 5 with a disc drive is priced at Rs 49,990 in India, while the PlayStation 5 Digital only Edition is priced at Rs 39,990 in the country.
PS5 will be available for pre-order on various online and offline channels (until stock lasts at respective retailer) such as Amazon, Flipkart, Croma , Reliance Digital, Games The Shop, Shop at Sony Center, Vijay Sales and select other authorized retailers taking pre-orders. Keeping the current situation in mind, Sony India has urged all customers to keep their health and safety in mind before physically visiting any store for pre-order and advise them to call the local retailer before visiting. For contact details and address of the local retailers taking pre-orders, customers can also call toll-free number 1800-103-7799.
