Beeper app combines iMessage, WhatsApp, and 13 other chat apps in one place

The number of messaging apps have grown over the last decade. While WhatsApp has dominated the space, there are others that have become popular like the iMessage for iOS devices and Signal which has recently risen to fame. Even other social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram, that have different primary purposes, allow users to exchange messages. Juggling between these apps and keeping track of messages can be a tough task.

However, a new app now aims to solve that problem. Pebble CEO and founder Eric Migicovsky, took to Twitter on Friday to announce that he has been working on an app called Beeper which combines iMessage, WhatsApp and 13 such other apps on one platform. The apps in picture include prominent names like Instagram, Telegram, Singal and Twitter, among others.

Migicovsky said that Beeper has been his default chat client for two years. The app is now available on macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android.

“New app alert: I've been working on Beeper for a while and today we're launching! It's a single app to chat on iMessage, WhatsApp, and 13 other networks. Been using it as my default chat client for the last 2 years and there is NO going back. Check it out beeperhq.com,” he tweeted.

The biggest challenge for Migicovsky would be to make iMessages work on Android smartphones, which he admitted in a separate tweet that would be tricky. “And yes, iMessage works even on Android, Windows and Linux using some trickery,” tweeted Migicovsky.

How will Beeper work?

Migicovsky explained that he will be sending users jailbroken iPhones with the Beeper app installed which bridges to iPhone. Those who already own a Mac that is connected to the internet will need to install the Beeper Mac app that will act as a bridge. The platform is built on the Matrix open source project that lets developers write ‘bridges’ between Matrix other chat networks, like WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Skype, and more.

The apps this platform will merge include:

Whatsapp

Facebook Messenger

iMessage

Android Messages (SMS)

Telegram

Twitter

Slack

Hangouts

Instagram

Skype

IRC

Matrix

Discord

Signal

Beeper network

However, users need to keep in mind that this will still be a subscription-based app which means they will have to some charge to use it.
