Oppo A53 5G with MediaTek processor, 1080p screen to launch soon

Oppo launched the A53 in India earlier this year, which brings LTE connectivity for the market. Now, the Chinese company is reportedly working on a 5G version of the A53 but it will have more than just a mere connectivity upgrade. The Oppo A53 5G will have bumped up specifications over those of the A53. The smartphone was recently listed on the TENAA certification website, along with full details on what innards it will come bearing. It is now listed on China’s carrier website ahead of launch.

According to the TENAA listing, the smartphone has two models, bearing model numbers PECM30 and PECT30. The Oppo A53 5G will house a 6.5-inch 1080p screen. It is not mentioned what material this display will be based on, but we might have an idea from the location of the fingerprint sensor. Since it is mounted on the power button on the phone’s edge, the A53 5G is likely to have an LCD because otherwise, an OLED panel would have allowed Oppo to integrate an in-display fingerprint sensor. The regular Oppo A53 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 processor but this new version will rock a MediaTek Dimensity 720 processor under the hood.

The Oppo A53 5G look is also roughly given in the listing, showing there will be three cameras on the backside of the phone. The primary camera is speculated to be a 16MP shooter while the selfie camera on the smartphone will be an 8MP snapper residing inside the punch-hole on the display. The listing has also confirmed that the Oppo A53 5G will come preloaded with Android 10 software with ColorOS 7.2 skin on top. It is not confirmed whether there will be Android 11 on this phone but it will likely be a part of the roadmap.

According to the listing on China Mobile, a telecom operator in China, the Oppo A53 5G will come in two configurations, 4GB RAM and 128GB storage, 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, both having support for microSD card for expandability. The listing has also confirmed that the Oppo A53 5G will come with a 4000mAh battery inside but the type of fast charging that will be supported on this battery is not immediately clear. MediaTek, which is providing the processor for this phone, has not stated anything about fast charging, as well. This could mean that the Oppo A53 5G will be stuck with the regular 10W fast charging.

Furthermore, the telecom company’s website has revealed the Oppo A53 5G will arrive in three colourways, none of which are known at the moment. The TENAA listing shows the phone in a blue shade with gradient finish at the back, so this could be one of the variants for the Oppo A53 5G but the other two variants are not known. The website has also unveiled that the smartphone will be available from December 1.

Oppo A53 5G Price

The Oppo A53 5G is listed with a price tag of CNY 1,599, which translated to roughly Rs 18,000. This phone will go on sale in China as and when it officially launches but its arrival to markets elsewhere is doubtful. Even if Oppo decides to launch this phone for markets like India, it might bring it with a different name. In case that happens, Oppo might also strip the phone off its 5G connectivity, and would rather give 4G connectivity on it.
