Amazon Echo Show gets Netflix and other video features

Now Amazon Echo Show users can watch Netflix on their devices. The company on Wednesday announced that the Echo show will get support for Netflix along with new video features. This means that users can now watch web series, movies from Netflix on Echo Show. Last year, Echo Show got support for Prime Video.

Announcing the new feature, Amazon said in a statement, “Today, we’re excited to bring Netflix to Echo Show devices, giving customers more video options to choose from. Whether it’s tuning in for watching how-to videos or streaming your favorite movies or TV shows, our goal is to give customers the most convenient experience and widest range of video content options to select from.”

So if you have an Amazon Echo Show, you will now have access to the complete Netflix catalog to search, browse, pause, resume, and stream movies or TV shows, including Netflix Originals.

In order to find the movie or web series you want to watch on Netflix, you can give commands like, “Alexa, show me comedy movies on Netflix”/ or “Alexa, find action movies on Netflix” to find your next watch, no matter where you are in the room.

Talking about the new addition to Echo Show, Heather Zorn, Director, Alexa Entertainment said, “Customers tell us that they love the convenience of Alexa and being able to use voice to browse and control the content they watch on Echo Show and Fire TV. “We are excited to add Netflix to our list of content providers on Echo Show and bring the convenience of Alexa to even more Netflix members.

New Video Features

Amazon has also rolled out a couple of video features that would enhance the user experience. “In addition to adding more content to choose from, we want to make it easier than ever to search for your next show or movie. We recently introduced a new video home page to provide customized recommendations for what to watch next — simply say, “Alexa, open video home.” New video detail pages also offer more information on the selected series or movie at a glance,” Amazon said in a statement.

Earlier this week, Amazon launched a new feature for its Echo devices that would enable group video and voice calling. The group calling feature would allow up to seven participants to join audio or video call on Echo devices including the Echo Dot and Echo Show. The feature will be rolled out in countries including India, Austria, Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, the US, and the UK starting today.
