Waiting for Facebook Messenger’s Vanish Mode? You can use this similar feature to send disappearing messages

Facebook is now rolling out a Vanish Mode for Messenger and Instagram users. Vanish Mode for Messenger is currently rolling out in the US and some other countries. The Vanish Mode will enable users to send messages to a particular chat that will disappear depending on the time set by the user. The feature is similar to Snapchat. Users also get notified when a receiver of the disappearing message takes a screenshot.
When users enable the vanish mode and swipe up on their mobile device in an existing chat thread, they can send the disappearing messages. To get back to their regular chat, users should swipe up again.

The Vanish Mode feature on Messenger is still rolling out to users in the US and not currently available to all users. Facebook noted that the feature can be used to send memes, GIFs, stickers, or reactions “to share what you really think when you can’t find the words, or just be silly with your friends without it staying in your chat history.”

There is a similar feature on Facebook Messenger that helps users send disappearing messages on messenger. The feature is called secret conversation which is end-to-end encrypted.

The Verge noted that Vanish Mode is similar in ways to Messenger's existing secret conversation mode. Users enter secret-chat mode which is backed by end-to-end encryption and saves chat only on the sender’s device. However, the new mode is designed to delete anything sent forever once it's been viewed.

When you send a message in a secret conversation, you can also set a timer to have your message disappear from the conversation. Your message will disappear in the amount of time you choose after the other person sees the message.
To set a disappearing message in a secret conversation:

--Go to Facebook Messenger.

--Select the chat or contact with whom you want to share the disappearing messages.

--Go to the menu from the top right-hand side

-- Select Go to Secret conversation.

--Select the timer icon and set the time after which you want the message to disappear.

--The time ranges from five seconds to one day.

--Users can then take a photo, send pictures and audio messages that will disappear after the selected time once the users have seen them.

--To go back to the regular conversation, go to the menu again

--Select Go back to regular conversation.

WhatsApp is rolling out disappearing messages out to beta testers and will roll out the feature to Android and iOS users in the coming weeks. The feature would let users keep a message in a chatbox for seven days.
