Donald Trump questions timing of Pfizer vaccine announcement

US President Donald Trump has tweeted saying Pfizer did not have the courage to announce the Covid-19 vaccine before elections and questioned the timing of the vaccine announcement.

He accused Pfizer and the US Food and Drug Administration of delaying the announcement until the end of the election for political reasonsHe tweeted, "As I have long said, @Pfizer and the others would only announce a Vaccine after the Election, because they didn’t have the courage to do it before. Likewise, the @US_FDA should have announced it earlier, not for political purposes, but for saving lives!"

American pharmaceutical Pfizer Inc and its German partner BioNTech SE on Monday said that early data has shown that their Covid-19 vaccine is more than 90 per cent effective in preventing Covid-19.

Pfizer and German partner BioNTech SE are the first drugmakers to show successful data from a large-scale clinical trial of a coronavirus vaccine.
