According to health department officials on Sunday, a French tourist on a visit to Ramanathapuram in Tamil Nadu was admitted to hospital after she tested positive for the coronavirus.
“The 44-year old woman is undergoing treatment in Ramanathapuram,” the officials said. She had arrived in Rameswaram on October 9, and had visited several places in and around the town.
Three other women, who had accompanied her, are in isolation in a hotel, under the supervision of the health department, the officials said.
The coronavirus tally in India crossed the 70-lakh mark on Sunday, with a spike of 74,383 fresh cases and 918 deaths reported in the last 24 hours.
