Sushant Singh Rajput death: A look at the therapists who treated the actor


Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Bandra residence on June 14. His therapists had earlier confirmed that the actor was suffering from depression. The statements of the psychiatrists were also recorded by Mumbai Police. These therapists include Kersi Chavda, Perveen Dadachanji, Nikita Shah and Susan Walker.

Here is a detailed look at the therapists who treated Sushant Singh Rajput:

Dr Nikita Shah

She is a Mumbai-based Psychiatrist and has an experience of 15 years. Dr Nikita Shah practices at the KLS Memorial Hospital in Mumbai. She pursued her DNB in the year 2011 from INHS Ashvini, Mumbai and completed her MBBS in the year 2005 from King Edward Memorial Hospital and Seth Gordhandas Sunderdas Medical College.

Dr Pervin Dadachanji

She has an extensive experience in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and has been in the field of Psychiatry for 20 years. She has also conducted several parenting workshops for primary caregivers and teachers, as well as sex-education workshops for different age groups in schools. In her years of practice, she has worked with children, adults, as well as elders. She has also written two books on parenting. One of the books written by her is titled Recipes for Parenting and was published in January 2007.

She has also conducted lectures at Ummeed for the Mental Health Training Programme, Child Development Aides Programme, and Developmental Paediatric Residents. Dr Pervin writes for various parenting websites and has often been appreciated for her contribution to the society.

She is the Co-founder of We Hear You, India’s only support group for families who have lost their loved ones to suicide and is also one of the advisory board members for Safe Space.

Dr Kersi Chavda

He is a practicing Psychiatrist and a consultant at Mumbai’s Hinduja National Hospital. He has presented many papers at various national forums on issues dealing with mental health. He has also organized many workshops and seminars, and has written chapters in two books related to adolescent stress and pediatric issues. For a period of one-and-a-half year, ran a column in a leading daily on issues relating to psychological health. He had also told the investigating officers of Mumbai Police that Sushant Singh Rajput had stopped taking his medicines in June 2020, following which his condition deteriorated. He added that the Mumbai Police has this as part of his recorded statement.

Susan Walker Moffat

She practices in Mumbai and is a clinical psychologist, hypnotherapist and psychotherapist. She is a London University alumna. She is also a consulting psychologist for the American Consulate, the British Consulate and the American School of Bombay. She is a member of the Bombay Psychological society and often expresses her views on psychological issues.
