CRPF personnel was injured in a low-intensity IED blast in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday morning. Police recovered another IED planted in the area which was later defused, according to J&K Police.
The incident took place in Gangoo area around 7.30 am after militants detonated an IED to target CRPF personnel in the area, police said.
Today at about 0728hrs an IED blast took place in the orchards near Peaks Automobile Pulwama where routine joint naka of police/CRPF is established. During the terror incident, one CRPF personnel received minor injuries and is stable now. Police and security force teams along with BDS Pulwama rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation,” a J&K Police spokesperson said in a statement.
A CRPF spokesperson said that militants attempted to target CRPF personnel.
Unknown terrorists tried to target CRPF troops by detonating an IED on the road around 0740 hrs. One CRPF Personnel of 182 Bn CRPF sustained minor splinter injury and was evacuated to Unit MI room,” he said.
The area was cordoned off soon after the incident and security forces rushed to the spot. Police said one more IED was found and “defused by BDS Pulwama” and Pulwama police have “taken cognizance and started investigation”.
