Huawei caught sharing DSLR images as smartphone pictures

These days the smartphone cameras are so good that you barely need a DSLR camera but the truth of the matter is, there is a why reason those cameras were made and there is a reason why the smartphones can never be at par with the DSLR cameras no matter what one claims. But smartphone maker Huawei got it all wrong. They thought they could use DSLR pictures to showcase the camera skills of one of their smartphones and nobody would get to know. They didn’t realize that the viewers these days are quite observant.

Huawei came under the scanner once again when it used images clicked by a DSLR camera on a video collage that was shared on Chinese website Weibo to invite fans for a photography contest called “2020 Next-Image Awards”. The video that was posted on the website claimed that all the pictures in it were clicked using Huawei smartphones. However, a photographer was quick to spot an image that had appeared on some other website and it figured that it was actually a picture clicked using a DSLR camera. It was later revealed that the picture was clicked using a high-end DSLR camera called the Nikon D850 and the picture was shared on photo-sharing website 500px.

When called out, Huawei issued an apology on Weibo and accused the editor of wrongly marking the picture in the video. Post which, Huawei also updated the video collage on Weibo, reports South China Morning Post.

Huawei is known for making some of the best camera phones and it is quite surprising when they indulge in such petty practices to showcase the abilities of their smartphones. However, this isn’t the first time Huawei has tried to mislead its fans by sharing false images. Earlier in 2018, Huawei had wrongly used a picture clicked on a DSLR in the commercial for its Nova 3 smartphone. The company had used a DSLR camera picture to showcase how Huawei’s selfie cameras are so good that women don’t need makeup. It was discovered when the actress in the commercial had shared a behind the scene picture of the commercial. In that, it was clearly seen that the actors were not using Huawei phones to click selfies but they were clicked using a DSLR.
