The Haryana government has asked private schools to not collect fees during the lockdown period. A nationwide lockdown has been imposed in the country due to the rapidly growing coronavirus pandemic in the nation. All schools and colleges have been shut to avoid any mass gatherings and limit physical contact during this challenging time. The lockdown will be lifted after April 14, 2020, after assessing the situation of the virus.

The government has "banned all types of fee collection with immediate effect", an official statement said here on Friday.

Haryana School Education Department has directed all district education officers and district, primary education officers of the state, to appraise private schools in their respective areas about the directions of the state government.

The fees will be collected only after the situation is normal and the schools reopen, it said.

Many schools and universities are holding online classes to complete their courses during the lockdown. Some schools have also promoted the students from lower grades to higher grades without conducting the annual final exams this year.

A lot of initiatives are being taken by schools and universities to keep the students engaged during this time. State boards are also motivating students to take up new skills and online courses so that they get to expand their knowledge.
