Madhya Pradesh: Tribal girl, 14, alleges gang rape, commits suicide

A teenage student accused three people of gangraping her before committing suicide by self-immolation at her home near Betul, Madhya Pradesh, this week.
The tribal girl, who was 14, was rushed to a private hospital in Nagpur with 95 percent burn injuries and declared dead early on Wednesday morning.
In a suicide note, she said she had been gang-raped three months ago by one Sandeep Hasan and two of his friends in a Betul office. Two of these men have been arrested.
The victim said she was being harassed -- and that threats were being made to her life -- in an effort to dissuade her from complaining.
District SP DS Bhadoria said the victim had identified the two other suspects as Nitish Nagale and Ajay, in her dying declaration to the police.
According to the police, she said in her suicide note that she met the other suspect, Sandeep Hasan, at an event organized by her father.
TWO ARRESTED
Two of the suspects, Sandeep Hasan and Nitish Nagale, have been arrested, the police said.
"The two arrested accused are being interrogated, and we are in the process of recovering forensic evidence, the details of which would be shared with the appropriate authority, said the district SP.
