Delhi Police forms 2 SITs to probe all riot-related cases

The Delhi Police has formed two special investigation teams (SITs) to probe all cases related to the riots that broke out in the North East Delhi district on Monday.

The two SIT's will be headed by DCP-rank officers.

News agency ANI said DCP Rajesh Deo and DCP Joy Tirkey will head these SITs.

"The SIT's will immediately take over the investigation of the cases connected with North East Delhi violence," ANI said in a tweet.

Besides this, Additional Commissioner of Police (crime branch) BK Singh will supervise the work of the two SITs.

All FIRs registered so far have been transferred to the two SITs.

Earlier in the day, Delhi Police PRO MS Randhawa said the police have registered 48 FIRs so far.

Meanwhile, the death toll in the Delhi riots reached 34 on Thursday with over 200 wounded. No fresh case of violence was reported on Thursday, the police said.
