Forget Razr, Motorola now coming up with another flagship phone for an MWC 2020 unveil

Motorola G8 Plus
Motorola has made a splash in the world of phones with its Razr foldable phone but the Lenovo owned smartphone maker is not stopping anytime soon. Motorola has plans to make it to the premium segments this year and it might begin 2020 with a full-blown Android flagship device. You may have heard about the Motorola Edge+ on social media but thanks to a bunch of leaks, we have a fair idea of what the Edge+ could be like. Hint: Beware OnePlus and Asus.
A recent Geekbench listing of a new Motorola device shed some light on the specifications. The listing calls the device the Motorola Edge Plus and it lists promising specifications. The chipset is given a codename 'burton' but it is an octa-core processor. The phone has only tested its base power-efficient cores clocked at 1.8GHz but the performance cores haven't been flexed yet.
The listing also reveals that the Edge Plus will come with 12GB RAM, which is double the amount of the RAM you get on the new Razr. The phone will also come with Android 10 onboard. Given that it's a Motorola, you can expect the company to stick to a stock Android interface similar to existing Motorola devices. The 12GB RAM also suggests that Motorola might be looking to take on the high-performance flagship offerings from OnePlus and Samsung this year.
According to another report, Motorola has started handing out invites to an exclusive event at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month and chances are that Motorola might unveil the Edge Plus at this event. Given the name, chances are that the Motorola Edge Plus could focus on offering a display with curved edges on either side. Maybe it could feature a display similar to what we saw on the Vivo Nex 3 concept smartphone last year.
Currently, Motorola is preparing to get the Razr ready for launch in some of its global markets. The Razr has been put up for pre-order in the US, UK, and India. Chances are that Motorola may start shipping the device soon after Samsung launches its Galaxy Z Flip foldable phone. Rumors suggest that Motorola is also working on a 5G variant of the device with a different chipset that will launch later in China this year
